“Don’t Make Assumptions.”
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
Be sure to check out my Tuesday posts from the past two weeks before reading this post!
How often do we unconsciously make assumptions about people? What did you assume about your teacher the first time you walked into a yoga class? What did you assume about your classmates and their ability or inability to do certain poses? What assumptions have you made about your own body? Maybe you’ve written off a pose without even trying it because your assumptions about your ability to do the pose were so strong. Why do people seem to be hardwired to make assumptions?
What would happen if we threw ALL of our assumptions out the window?
We’d be left with the truth of the moment. Perhaps left with more understanding, more happiness and contentment. And isn’t that all we really want anyway? This week, let’s stay aware of all of the moments in which we are quick to assume something and make a choice to release our assumptions in order to learn something new either about ourselves or someone else. This commitment will certainly open us up to experience more curiosity and ultimately more love.
Be impeccable with your words, don’t take anything personally and don’t make assumptions. Stay tuned for the fourth and final agreement, coming at you next week!
